July
- Celebrated AI researcher Fei-Fei Li’s entity World Labs accumulated a $100 million series in July, sources indicated to TechCrunch. The venture is presently valued at over $1 billion as per the Financial Times. World Labs aims to develop AI models capable of accurately assessing the three-dimensional aspects of tangible objects.
- Legal technology firm Harvey proclaimed a $100 million Series C funding on July 23. Spearheaded by Google Ventures, this initiative included participants such as OpenAI, Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia. This valued San Francisco’s company at $1.5 billion.
- Hebbia, $130 million: Andreessen Horowitz led Hebbia’s funding round concluding on July 8. The company, leveraging generative AI for extensive document searches, also raised capital from Peter Thiel, Index Ventures and Google Ventures, arriving at a $700 million valuation.
- Skild AI, $300 million: From Pittsburgh, Skild AI reported a $300 million Series A round on July 9, setting the company’s valuation at $1.5 billion. The initiative was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue and Jeff Bezos’ Bezos Expeditions, with others like Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and General Catalyst participating. - Bright Machines, $106 million: BlackRock spearheaded a $106 million Series C investment into Bright Machines, finalized on June 25. Nvidia, Microsoft and Eclipse Ventures, among other investors, participated. The startup specializes in smart robotics and AI-enhanced software, amassing over $437 million total in funding.
- Etched.ai, $120 million: San Francisco’s Etched.ai captured a $120 million Series A round on June 25. The lead parties were Primary Venture Partners and Positive Sum, with contributions from Two Sigma Ventures, Peter Thiel and Kyle Vogt, among others. Etched.ai is focused on manufacturing chips that enable AI models to perform faster and cost-effectively compared to GPUs.
- EvolutionaryScale, $142 million: Based in New York, EvolutionaryScale is developing biological AI models for therapeutic design. This entity gathered $142 million in seed funding concluded on June 25. The funding had backing from Lux Capital, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, and angel investor and ex-AI head at Y Combinator, Daniel Gross. The company launched in 2023.
- AKASA, $120 million: Healthcare revenue cycle automation technology, Akasa, unveiled a $120 million funding round on June 18. Located in San Francisco, the startup totals $205 million in secured funds with past investments from Andreessen Horowitz, Costanoa Ventures and Bond.
- AlphaSense, $650 million: New York’s AlphaSense announced a $650 million Series F funding round on June 11. Viking Global Investors and BDT & MSD Partners took the lead, with participation from CapitalG, SoftBank Vision Fund, and Goldman Sachs, among others. AlphaSense is a market intelligence platform established in 2008, having procured more than $1.4 billion in venture funding and recently valued at $4 billion.
May
- xAI, $6 billion: Elon Musk’s xAI attracted a staggering $6 billion Series B funding on May 31 from contributors like Sequoia, Valor Equity Partners and Fidelity, among others. The company focuses on establishing an AI platform to “advance human scientific breakthroughs” and is estimated at an impressive $24 billion.
- Scale AI, $1 billion: Scale AI, a service provider specializing in data labeling for AI model training, raised $1 billion in May. The Series F funding was led by Accel and saw participation from Tiger Global, Spark Capital and Amazon, among others. Headquartered in San Francisco, Scale AI has accumulated over $1.6 billion in total and is presently valued at almost $14 billion.
- Suno, $125 million: AI-music creation platform Suno received $125 million from a Series B investment that wrapped up on May 21. The round values the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based startup at $500 million. Contributors such as Founder Collective, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Matrix, along with previous GitHub CEO Nat Friedman and ex-head of AI at Y Combinator Daniel Gross, were involved.
- Weka, $140 million: Silicon Valley’s Weka developed an AI-centric data platform and acquired $140 million in Series E funding, concluded on May 13. Led by Valor Equity Partners, the financing included inputs from Qualcomm Ventures, Nvidia and Hitachi Ventures, among others. The startup was appraised at $1.6 billion.
- CoreWeave, $1.1 billion: New Jersey’s GPU infrastructure provider CoreWeave raised $1.1 billion through a Series C round finalized on May 1. The effort was championed by Coatue with participation from Fidelity, Altimeter Capital and Magnetar Capital, among others. CoreWeave launched in 2017 and holds a valuation of $19 billion.
April
- Blaize, $106 million: The AI-computing platform provider Blaize gathered $106 million during a Series D round, declared on April 29. Participants in this round included Temasek, Franklin Templeton and Bess Ventures, among others. Founded in 2010, the company has raised a total of $242 million.
- Augment, $227 million: Palo Alto’s Augment amassed $227 million for its AI coding support platform. The Series B round was publicly declared on April 24. Enablers Lightspeed Venture Partners, Index Ventures, and Sutter Hill Ventures took part in the round, valuing the company slightly under $1 billion.
- Cognition, $175 million: Founders Fund took the lead in the applied AI lab Cognition’s $175 million investment round, finalized on April 24. This funding came around a month after the company procured a $21 million Series A round in March from Founders Fund and a gamut of other financiers, including Ramp’s co-founder Eric Glyman, Stripe’s co-founders Patrick and John Collison, and Tony Xu, one of the founders of DoorDash. Thecompany was established in November 2023 and boasts a valuation of approximately $2 billion.
- Xaira Therapeutics, $1 billion: The AI-focused drug discovery enterprise, Xaira Therapeutics, headquartered in San Francisco, secured a $1 billion Series A funding round. The announcement was made on April 23, and the round was spearheaded by Foresite Capital and ARCH Venture Partners. Participants also included Sequoia, NEA, Lux Capital, among many others.
- Cyera, $300 million: Coatue took the lead in Cyera’s latest $300 million Series C financing round for its AI-driven data protection platform, finalized on April 9. The initiative appraised the New York-based firm at $1.4 billion. The round featured participation from Sequoia, Redpoint, Accel, among others.
March
- Celestial AI, $175 million: Established in 2020, Celestial AI is working on an optical interconnect tech platform for data centers and AI solutions. They garnered $175 million in a Series C round on March 27, raising their total funding to $338 million. The round was led by Thomas Tull’s US Innovative Technology Fund, with additional backers including M Ventures, Temasek, and Tyche Partners.
- FundGuard, $100 million: FundGuard, a New York-located company, supplies an AI-driven investment accounting system and procured $100 million at a $400 million valuation. The Series C round, wrapped up on March 25, was helmed by Key1 Capital and engaged Hamilton Lane, Blumberg Capital, Team8, among others.
- Together AI, $106 million: The $106 million Series A round for Together AI was led by Salesforce Ventures, valuing the enterprise at $1.2 billion. Together AI provides a platform aimed at creating infrastructure and open-source generative AI for AI model development. NEA, Kleiner Perkins, Lux Capital participated, among others. The funding round was publicized on March 13.
- Zephyr AI, $111 million: Based in Fairfax Station, Virginia, Zephyr AI secured $111 million in a Series A round finalized on March 13. Participation came from Revolution Growth, Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, EPIQ Capital Group, and investor Jeff Skoll. The startup, initiated in 2020, leverages AI for advancements in drug research and precision medicine, totaling $129.5 million in funds raised so far.
February
- Glean, $203 million: On February 27, AI-driven enterprise search startup Glean acquired $203 million with a valuation reaching $2.2 billion. The Series D funding was headed by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Kleiner Perkins, featuring Sequoia and Databricks Ventures among others. The enterprise, based in Silicon Valley, has amassed over $350 million in venture capital, and its founder, Arvind Jain, was recently interviewed on TechCrunch’s Found podcast.
- Figure, $675 million: The AI robotics entity, Figure, based in Silicon Valley, raised $675 million in a Series B round closed on February 24, appraising the company at nearly $2.7 billion. The round saw contributions from Nvidia, OpenAI, Microsoft, and others. Established in 2022, Figure has cumulatively raised over $850 million.
- Abridge, $150 million: Pittsburgh-based startup Abridge, which employs AI in transcribing medical discussions, secured $150 million in a Series C round that wrapped up on February 23. This round was led by Redpoint and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with investment from USV, IVP, and Spark Capital, among others. This input brings the six-year-old company’s appraisal to $850 million.
- Recogni, $102 million: Specializing in high-output yet low-energy AI interface solutions, Recogni attracted $102 million in a Series C round on February 20. It was spearheaded by GreatPoint Ventures and Celesta Capital, with support from Pledge Ventures, Mayfield, and DNS Capital.
- Lambda, $320 million: Concentrating on deep learning infrastructure, Lambda raised $320 million in a Series C round announced on February 15. Led by Thomas Tull’s US Innovative Technology Fund, the round also involved Gradient Ventures, Mercato Partners, and T. Rowe Price.
