A significant motive for investing substantial money into a ready-made PC is the ease it provides. The other major factor is its visual appeal. CES 2025 has already overwhelmed us with ready-made PCs, but it appears the team over at Maingear might possess the most striking designs encountered so far. Undoubtedly, the fresh Apex series is capturing all the attention, especially due to its bespoke art.
I thoroughly appreciated the craftsmanship of Maingear’s MG-1, although the detached LED light strip inside didn’t impress me. The Maingear Apex Rush line isn’t the pinnacle of what’s offered, yet they truly excel in personalized artistry. The standout for me is certainly the “Vaporwave” artwork, evoking fond memories of endless hours spent in my cousin’s basement indulging in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The “Cybergamer” variation exudes a vibe similar to Ghost in a Shell or other SciFi anime from the 80s and 90s. The “Good Fortune” theme is an adorable mixture of diverse “lucky” creatures from different Asian traditions. While it doesn’t personally appeal to me, I can commend the diligent effort invested in crafting such a design for these enclosures.
The components of the Maingear Apex Rush are nestled in the Lian-li 011 EVO RGB mid-tower with a design reminiscent of a fishbowl, gaining popularity these days. You can acquire them with either AMD or Intel processors, up to 48 GB of DDR5 8,000MHz RAM, a GeForce RTX 50-series graphics card, and a maximum of a 1600W power supply. The liquid cooling tubing can be vinyl or neoprene, with an optional braided sleeve. Alternatively, you can opt for metal hard tubing.
If custom artwork doesn’t appeal to you and you prefer to view your PC components, the top-tier Apex Force PC delivers enough parallel lines to make an engineer blush. Boasting two radiators measuring 420 mm by 60 mm, they form a connection to a unique pipeline that harks back to a time when PC interiors resembled car engines. Everything, even the singular-loop cooling system, is constructed at a 10-degree incline to align with the Phanteks NV9 full-tower’s angle. You may select your preferred colors and choose a distinct pipe material, such as copper.
The challenge with such systems was the risk of leaks and draining coolant posed difficulties. In response, Maingear stated that a quick-drain valve located under the side panel simplifies removal for self-upkeep purposes. Available configurations include either a Z890 or X970E motherboard with a selection of top-tier Intel or AMD processors, up to 64 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card. To power the graphics card, a 1,600W 80+ Platinum power supply may be necessary.
You have the option to place a preorder for the new Apex PCs with a refundable $100 reservation, though these devices will undoubtedly be expensive. The company has not yet shared pricing details or a release timeline, but one can anticipate their arrival sometime early this year.
